Buzz is that Shruti Haasan is being confirmed for Gabbar opposite Akshay Kumar.
Initially, Shraddha Kapoor was cast in the Hindi remake of the Tamil
hit Ramana. But, as reported recently, date issues with her other under-
production movies led to her exit. Since Akshay's dates are locked for
the shoot, which is scheduled to start on January 8, the producers have
apparently zeroed in on Shruti after considering a couple of other
actresses.
Interestingly, Shruti was approached for the movie before the makers signed on Shraddha, but she couldn't commit to it due to lack of bulk dates. We contacted Shruti as well as Shabinaa Khan, one of the producers of the film. While Shabinaa did not respond, Shruti replied with a '?' in her text message.
A source says that the actress plans to speak to the press only after the deal is sealed and the producers make the official announcement.
